About Me
Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog. My name is Jen what I call a “late career starter”. During my traditional college-age years, I attended three schools in three years. At that time in my life I completely lacked focus and was purely in college for the social life. I continued to drift in my twenties not understanding why I was so depressed and unfocused.
Finally in my late twenties something clicked and I knew it was time to buckle down and finish my undergraduate degree. I then decided to pursue a Master of Arts in Training and Development and completed my degree in December of 2008. Toward the end of my program, I realized that I was very passionate about career development. I am in the process of completing my Career Development Facilitator (CDF) coursework through the National Career Development Association (NCDA). I am currently pursuing my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling so that I may become a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). My passion is career counseling since it is something that is near and dear to my heart.
You may wonder what someone who appears has taken a non-linear, non-traditional approach to her education and career can offer you. I know that a linear career path no longer exists and I understand the fear and frustration that can come with uncertainty. However, I also know the joy of discovering something that ignites a motivation and passion that has been lacking in one’s life. I have ten years of experience working at a private university and understand the need to be a savvy education consumer. My goal is to provide useful information to allow you to help you navigate your own path to career satisfaction.
Here’s to your newfound happiness and success!
Jen
